The dormitory is really empty. They moved the beds around and I think it might actually be smaller, like the room shrunk or something, but I'm not sure. It feels weird. And too quiet.

Greg and Vince are the same as they ever were, not like that's any surprise. I think they were both sort of glad not to be on the council, though. Blaise is the prefect, I mean, who else would they ask, really, but we haven't talked a lot since we've been back. It's not like we spent a lot of time talking before this term or anything, but I was thinking about picking up poker again, and Daphs said he'd be up for it as long as it didn't look like I was trying to replace you or something, so that might be good. And I'm going to ask Finnigan if he wants to join in too. Can't hurt, right?

I have no idea who we'll pick up as our other Chaser, and with Derwent out too, I've got to find at least one other spare, so we'll be trying out this weekend. How many firsties do you think will show up?

How should I know how many firsties are going to show up? I don't even know how many firsties there are.

I can't speak for Hermione, but I've been reading/studying/researching, listening to records, ignoring Kreacher, practising duelling with anyone who is halfway decent (and there aren't many who are), and wishing something horrible would happen because it's honestly boring most of the time. But if I let on that I'm bored I'll be loaded down with a list of mundane tasks like foraging around the forest for potions ingredients that I could easily steal from an Apothecary if it didn't cause everyone to clutch their pearls and yell for smelling salts.

And there's loads of firsties. We've got at least seven or eight in Slytherin. I sort of lost count. One of them's named Alecto, I know that much. It's probably a good thing that most of the younger years weren't around for the Carrows.

I think it isn't until the end of October. Daphs'd know for sure.
