The Third Task

We got showed the entrance to the maze the other day. I'm not sure how much everyone else is going to be able to see, because it looks awfully high, but maybe they'll have pictures like they did for the underwater one. We have to shoot off red sparks in the air if we get in trouble.

I've been practising, but it's sort of hard to figure out what exactly to practise for. But I guess that's sort of the point. At least we don't have breathing underwater on top of everything.

I'm not sure what all I should or shouldn't say. About what happened.

But I know Krum hasn't said anything either.

I mean. I'm not going to say anything. Of course.

Why? Has someone been asking you about it?

And don't worry about the practice. It would be impossible to fully prepare for every possibility, so we'll focus on what's most likely. They're keeping me in the dark on what's in the maze, for obvious reasons, but I have some good guesses. There will most certainly be a challenge related to a creature of some kind, probably a plant-based challenge as well, along with several physical obstacles and probably a puzzle or two.

No. No-one has. I haven't really seen anybody talking about it at all, like in the papers or the journals or anything, so I sort of figured I ought to not blab about it.

Did you sort out who killed him?

I'm really bad at puzzles. I'm not sure I'll get any better. But I can read up on plants.

They're not talking about it because he wasn't killed, Harry. I thought the Matron might have told you but I suppose she's been busy herself. He died of a brain seizure- a stroke. And after checking his wand we learned that he was the one who obliviated Viktor Krum, too. I'm sure it sounds strange to you, but people can do funny things when they have a stroke. That's how my own Father went, and he could barely speak, his words were all wrong. It's like a violent storm in the mind that sweeps through and rearranges everything...

It's still a bit mysterious why he came to the castle- if he was just addle-headed or if he was after something in particular... so if anyone starts asking you questions about it, be sure to let me know.
