So it turns out Cho just said yes because she thought she had to. Because it was me asking. And Cedric Diggory is her boyfriend. And now she's sad because she wanted to go with him.

So I told her that it was okay and she could go with him because that's what they both want.

And now he'll have to turn down Moon only that's not too bad because they were just going as friends.

But I have to ask someone else. Padma said I should ask Parvati because she's got a date but she doesn't like him.

I'd ask Hydra, but she's already got a date, and I don't want someone else getting broken up because of me.

I hate this. All of this. It's so stupid and complicated at the same time. And why didn't she just say she was going with Diggory? Did she really think she just couldn't say? Did she think I was that much of a prick or something that I wouldn't take no for an answer? And Parvati is probably going to say yes for the same reasons too. It's all a giant mess.

Well, this is a bit of a bloody mess, isn't it? Moon's still with Baddock, so I figured she was only going along with Diggory as a favour. I hadn't heard about him and Chang, though. But it figures Padma would be the one to know (I'm assuming it was her who passed all this along).

Even though Hydra's got a date I know for a fact she's supposed to go with you if you ask her, and Finch-Fletchley's supposed to let her, so there is always that. Finch-Fletchley's a decent enough bloke but I seriously doubt Auntie Bella sent Hydra all those dress robes just so she could go to the Ball with the Beauxbatons' rosbif.

Isn't there someone out there who doesn't have a date yet who would really, really like to go? With you or anyone else, for that matter?

Um... I don't think Greg has gotten up the nerve to ask Millie yet.

And like I said, I've already made a mess, asking Hydra would make it even more of one. And she seems happy enough to be going with Finch-Fletchley.

But yeah, I probably ought to check around to see if there's someone who really needs a date first. I really don't know Brocklehurst that well at all. Do you know if she's keen on going?

I reckon she's happy enough, from what I can tell. But she'd still do it in about a second, I'd wager.

Of course Brocklehurst is keen to go, she's a girl. And everyone's been avoiding asking her so she'd likely be doubly thrilled.

I just don't want to be that sort of person. You know? And it'd be different if she was unhappy.

Sally-Anne and Pansy know Brocklehurst I think. They have tea sometimes or something.

Oh right, tea of the strange people, or something. Pansy thinks it's a laugh. She could probably tell you more about Brocklehurst, too.

So. Now I've got to wait and see if Cho wants to break it off. And find out about Brocklehurst. And if Cho breaks it off and Brocklehurst seems okay, I've got to ask her. And if she says yes, then I've got to tell Padma that I'm not going to ask Parvati. But if she says no, I'll ask Parvati. And if Cho doesn't want to break it off, then I'll just take her because at least I tried.

This is worse than fighting the dragon.

Could you do me a favour and ask Pansy about Brocklehurst for me? Because if I have to explain to one more person what's going on I think my head is going to explode.

Alright then. From what I've heard, Brocklehurst might not be free. Don't ask me what that means. Frobisher fancies you - she's that bony one who refuses to eat. Oh, and Weasley's little sister doesn't have a date.

This is just between us, but I really don't fancy Frobisher back. She looks like she'll break in half if someone tries to dance with her.

And Ginny, is it? Is she the one that goes on about clothes?

She's a model for that Purest Sparkle magazine, so yeah. Which means you wouldn't have to worry about her wearing hideous robes like her Brother's, at least.
