I still haven't figured out the second thing yet. Because alot of people have been asking, I figured I'd just tell everyone this way. It's still an egg. It still screeches when you open it. I tried putting earmuffs on it, but that didn't help.

Anyways. Who is staying here for the Yule Ball? I guess pretty much everyone is. And it'll be fun. I guess. It'll be fun spending Christmas here when everyone else will be here too.

That's why I ordered the flowers. So, you know, it'd be classy. She turned really red and I thought she would say no, but she said yes! So I guess I've got that taken care of.

Speaking of, what do you think of Daphs' plan to ask a bloke to the ball instead of accepting an invitation from one? Mental or clever? I can't quite decide which.

But asking someone isn't mental. I think it's kind of cool. If she gets someone to say yes.

I mean, the truth of it is that they dated because they thought it gave them status and made them important. That's what I think, anyway.

I'm sure she'll get someone to say yes. I doubt it will be Auror Crouch, though.

Did you try putting the earmuffs on yourself?

I mean, that's actually sorta brilliant, mate. Maybe you need a special interpretation charm on a pair of earmuffs. Like the kind Professor Sprout uses with Mandrakes, maybe? Really good ones, I mean.

I didn't think of putting an interpretation charm on it, though. I don't even know if it's trying to say something, or if the sound does something else, like you've got to use it to open a door or break glass or something.

I haven't heard what kind of horrible noise it makes, only I've heard what people said who did hear it.

Is it like the noise Fwoopers make that sends people mad?

So when you opened it with ear muffs on, you weren't able to see what its secret is? Or did everyone nearby make you shut it again so they didn't have to listen? Only- maybe you have to open it someway that the noise would be muffed. I mean, not with ear muffs you'd wear, but some kind of all over muffling thing for the egg.

I've never heard a Fwooper before, but it's sort of like a Mandrake, though. Because it's so screechy that even if you wrap it in something, it's still annoying and screechy, just a little less loud.

Unless the noise would shatter the ice and send it flying like arrows in all directions. Actually that would be something to see! Dead dangerous, of course. But wicked ace!
